Today, car shoppers have more vehicle options than ever before. From compact sedans to coupes, the U.S. market has so many models to choose from. That said, if you have your eye on something a little different from the ordinary, then the Mazda6 is worth a closer look. It’s sure to turn heads thanks to its premium look and feel, spirited performance and high-end interior. But should you choose the 2019 or the 2018 Mazda6? What is the difference between the two? Here’s a closer look at what sets these models apart.
What’s new on the 2019 Mazda6?
The key differences between the 2019 and 2018 Mazda 6 are the transmission options and features available. For 2019, the Mazda6 drops the manual-transmission option, but makes Mazda’s i-ACTIVSENSE Safety Suite and SKYACTIV-VEHICLE DYNAMICS with G-Vectoring Control standard.
What is Mazda’s i-ACTIVSENSE Safety Suite?
It’s a variety of safety technologies and includes forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning and lane keeping assist.
These technologies are added in addition to the 2019 Mazda6’s standard safety features, which include blind-spot monitoring, a rearview camera and rear cross-traffic alert. Mazda’s i-ACTIVSENSE Safety Suite is also standard on the 2018 Mazda6 Touring, Grand Touring, Grand Touring Reserve and Signature trims.
What is the Mazda SKYACTIV-VEHICLE DYNAMICS with G-Vectoring Control?
This technology optimizes steering precision and improves the Mazda6 sedan’s cornering response. To do this, the Mazda subtly reduces engine torque and shifts the load to the front wheels of the vehicle. The Mazda SKYACTIV-VEHICLE DYNAMICS with G-Vectoring Control works to minimize constant steering overcorrections. This is a new technology for 2019.
