What are the fuel economy ratings for the 2018 Mazda CX-5?

The drive system you select for your 2018 Mazda CX-5 will vary based on the drive system selected. Models equipped with the Front-Wheel Drive system earn fuel economy ratings estimated at 25 miles per gallon in the city and 31 miles per gallon on the highways for 28 miles per gallon combined.

Mazda CX-5 models equipped with the i-ACTIV All-Wheel Drive system are estimated at 24 miles per gallon in the city and 30 miles per gallon on the highways for 26 miles per gallon combined.

Regardless of the drive system selected, the 2018 Mazda CX-5 will come powered by a 2.5-liter SKYACTIV-G four-cylinder engine. Performance numbers for the engine check in at 187 horsepower and 186 pound-feet of torque. The engine is paired with the SKYACTIV-DRIVE 6-speed automatic transmission.

One of the significant updates to the CX-5 for the 2018 model year is the addition of a cylinder-deactivation feature to the crossover’s engine. This feature will shut down two of the engine’s cylinders when the crossover is at cruising speed, helping improve fuel economy ratings.
